There can not be a relationship without accountability. My eyeballs aren’t just in a relationship with my eyelids, they are accountable and responsible for one another. The same way my eyes see for my eyelids, my eyelids protect my eyes from what it sees as a coming danger. This is a principle at work in all natural systems. The same should apply to all human emotional systems.
To refuse accountability is therefore to refuse a relationship. I must say it takes courage and strength to hold your partner accountable and should you lose a relationship over the refusal to be accountable, it is a worthwhile loss. While we don’t feel good about losses in life, the reality is that there are losses in life that are actually pluses. The loss of an unaccountable partner is actually a plus and not a loss.
